Job Description
The Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Basque Studies, open rank (Assistant (II), Associate (III), or Full (IV) Professor), to begin July 1, 2027. The field of specialization is open.
What they want
- A Ph.D. in a relevant humanities or social science discipline or a similar terminal degree in the Arts.
- For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, the degree must be completed no later than July 1, 2027.
- Candidates for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must hold the Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in the discipline and present a record of scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with tenure at that rank.
- An active and promising research agenda that engages Basque Studies—the language, cultures, history, society, arts, or diaspora of the Basque people—broadly conceived.
- Qualifications sufficient to hold a tenure home in an appropriate department within the College of Liberal Arts.
- Demonstrated excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in teaching, research, and service.
- Reading, writing, or speaking knowledge of Euskara and/or Spanish or French.
