The Role:
Our site in Bedford, MA is seeking a Design and Process Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
In this role, you will support both the design and process engineering activities of our R&D group for new thin film coating applications.
What you'd do
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and assemblies using SolidWorks while adhering to departmental drafting and documentation standards
- Partner with process engineers and subject matter experts to develop equipment, tooling, and process solutions that address customer and manufacturing needs
- Assist with the development, revision, and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions, operating procedures, process flows, and manufacturing records
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of mechanical design improvements
- Coordinate with external suppliers and internal resources to procure components and support the timely introduction of new parts and assemblies
- Support hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes, fixtures, and equipment improvements
- Proficiency with SolidWorks design and drafting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
