The Department of American Studies is seeking a highly motivated, organized, creative, and engaging student to serve as the Marketing and Administrative Support intern for the 2026-2027 academic year. The intern will report to the Department Manager, Hayley Spear, and will assist with a variety of tasks related to the work of the department. In addition to the job responsibilities outlined below, this position will be part of a structured internship experience through the Internship Placement Program (IPP). If selected, interns will participate in an asynchronous co-curricular workshop series through Canvas. Through this robust internship experience, students will receive dedicated career support from their supervisor and gain key skills and competencies that align with future job interests.
What you'd do
- Management of the department’s bulletin board, for aesthetically interesting engagement, with up-to-date information of departmental events.
- Regular review of AMST website, to update and refresh content.
- Marketing of American Studies events through various channels including the creation and distribution of flyers digitally and across Grounds.
- Drafting and revising of the American Studies newsletter.
- Support in planning and executing department events, such as the AMST end-of-year celebration and graduation ceremony (pending the intern’s availability in mid-May 2027.)
- Office administrative support – unboxing and managing office supplies.

- Interest in digital and print marketing, web operations, and emerging marketing technology.
- Interest in strengthening the American Studies student experience through support of departmental projects and events.
