Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our CFO Organization, specifically, within our Accounting, Finance or Tax departments. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in one of our accounting, finance or tax groups that supports various business units throughout the company. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals.
What you'd do
- Participate in the monthly financial process; journal entry preparation, close, budgeting/forecasting, reconciliations, etc.
- Assist with reporting (financial, regulatory, tax, FERC, SEC and/or operational)
- Review financial data to identify trends, variances, discrepancies, and business drivers
- Collaborate with teams and business partners to gather information and support data requests
- Assist audit, compliance, tax filings, transaction support and due diligence activities
- Assist and/or suggest improvements to processes, documentation through automation or knowledge sharing
- Exposure to various financial systems/tools
- Participate in/support special projects as assigned
What they want
- Current student, Junior status (as of Fall 2027) or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science or other STEM related majors
- Able to work full-time (up to 40 hours a week) during the summer and commuting to the designated location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
