The Role:
Our site in Bloomington, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration beginning in January.
In this role, you will Help solve manufacturing issues by designing and implementing new equipment and processes. This role will also be assigned a medium-term project focused on manufacturing improvement in the Co-ops area of expertise or field of study.
What you'd do
- Own and execute a significant manufacturing engineering project focused on your area of study while delivering measurable results by the end of the co-op term that can be presented to site leadership.
- Support manufacturing process improvements by analyzing production data, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions to improve operational performance.
- Assist with the design, development, and validation of tooling, fixtures, equipment, and standardized work instructions to support production operations.
- Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support by assisting with production issue resolution, process troubleshooting, documentation updates, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Have a basic understanding of lean manufacturing techniques
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently under guidance from experience engineers.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including spending time on the production floor.
- Must be a currently enrolled student
- Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
- Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
