Magazine internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. We are looking for ambitious students who think first, foremost and always about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure.
What they want
- Completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional magazine or newspaper, or published exceptional work with a campus publication or as a freelancer.
- A demonstrated interest in features about consumer trends, culture, entertainment, technology and more.
- Sharp instincts for feature and lifestyle coverage and an interest in and appreciation for photography and design.
- Dedication to high journalistic standards and audience-first thinking.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills and an ability to transform observations into story ideas backed by data and original reporting.
- A familiarity with social-media platforms and web analytics is beneficial.
- A cover letter that highlights why you would be an asset to that desk.
