The Robotic Welding Coordinator is responsible for supporting, administering, and continuously improving robotic welding operations throughout the manufacturing facility.
What you'd do
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic welding systems used in tank car manufacturing.
- Monitor robotic welding processes and adjust welding parameters to achieve quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
- Maintain robotic welding equipment settings, software, and operating documentation.
- Work with Maintenance and Engineering to identify and implement reliability improvements that improve equipment uptime and efficiency
- Support startup, commissioning, and validation of new robotic welding systems.
- Train hourly employees, technicians, and supervisors on robotic welding systems and automated welding processes.
- Develop training materials, qualification standards, and operator certification requirements.
- Evaluate operator proficiency and recommend additional training when necessary.
- Support implementation of best practices related to automation and robotic welding technology.
- Participate in evaluation, specification, and purchasing of robotic welding and automated manufacturing equipment.

- Ensure robotic welding processes remain compliant with approved WPS and QPR requirements.
- Support internal and external audits related to welding processes and qualifications.
- Review weld quality data, use root cause analysis techniques, and recommend corrective actions when required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable AAR, customer, regulatory, and company welding requirements.
- Associate degree in Welding Technology, Robotics, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience with robotic welding systems, automated manufacturing equipment, or industrial robotics.
- Working knowledge of MIG, SAW, and FCAW welding processes, welding symbols, metallurgy, Welding Procedure Specifications, and qualification standards.
- Understanding of automated manufacturing systems and controls.
