Job Description
Summer Internship Program
Our paid Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students with an immersive, hands-on experience within the aerospace and defense industry. Interns work alongside AV team members on meaningful projects involving cutting-edge technology while developing professional relationships, strategic problem-solving skills, and practical experience in a full-time work environment.
This is a 12-week, onsite program intended for highly motivated and passionate students who are currently enrolled in college or are recent graduates.
What you'd do
- Support the Legislative Affairs team with content creation, knowledge management, briefing materials, and engagement tracking.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory activities, including congressional hearings and meetings.
- Assist with planning and preparation for executive engagements in the Washington, DC area.
- Assist with planning and preparation for visits by Members of Congress and staff to AV facilities.
- Help coordinate the execution of the AV Political Action Committee.
- Support AV’s legislative affairs strategy to facilitate strategic business growth initiatives, including engagement strategy with Members of Congress, Committees, and other stakeholders to increase support for AV customer programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
What they want
- Currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or related field.
- Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA in current degree program.
- Strong interest in government relations, public policy, and advocacy.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous internship experience, to include interactions with business managers and customers.
- Familiarity with legislative processes and government organization.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) is required.
- Occasional travel may be required within the Continental U.S.
