The Distributed Intelligence Data Science team is seeking a motivated and curious 2027 Summer Data Science Intern to help advance innovation in the Utilities & Energy sector. Distributed Intelligence helps utilities achieve greater distribution system visibility by combining granular grid-edge data with an open enterprise application platform.
What you'd do
- 40 hours per week for 10 weeks during Summer 2027
- May/June 2027
- August/September 2027, depending on academic schedule

- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of data and machine learning pipelines used in production environments.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure while demonstrating accountability and attention to quality.
- Clean, prepare, and validate moderate- to large-scale datasets (tens to hundreds of gigabytes) for analysis, model development, and operational use.
- Partner with senior team members and subject matter experts to conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to research, testing, and improvement of machine learning models under the guidance of experienced data scientists.
- Collaborate effectively with data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative and customer-focused solutions.
